The Gorillapod started life as a small, flexible camera tripod. The jointed legs can be wrenched into just about any shape, from a simple three-legged stand to a tree branch hugging clamp.

But the folks at Joby, the maker of Gorillapod, have gone one better. The new Gorillapod Go-Go is a stand for all your other gadgets. It can still be used with a small camera, but – as the above photo from Chicago Sun Times writer Andy Ihnatko shows – the Go-Go is pretty damned useful for anything.

There are a few ways to join your gizmos to the Go-Go in long, happy matrimony. First, a mini tripod adapter which screws into a standard bush-mount, best for use with your camera. Second, there is a suction cup. If your first-gen iPhone doesn’t have too many scratches on the back, this is the one to use. Third, and slightly more permanent, is the sticky pad which glues right on to the target device.

The Gorillapod Go-Go wil cost $35 and comes with a selection of four adapters. That’s a small price for a device which performs its tasks and lets you play Facehugger from Alien.

The famous 6x telescope now finds it compatible with the latest iPhone 3G. What this does is give you 6x optical zoom making zoomed images far better quality then the regular digital zoom you would normally use.

Using the telescope is easy and is just a matter of putting your phone in a supplied crystal type case. Once there the 6x zoom camera attaches to the rear over the regular iPhone’s camera lens.

The 6x telescopic lens costs just $19.

The latest neat convergence box is this external battery pack for the iPhones 1 and 2. Like other external batteries, the iPower Portable Power Station juices the battery of the iPhone from its own reserves. When the iPower’s battery charge falls below five percent, it stops feeding the iPhone. Why? Because of the other feature, an external speaker. Apparently, that last five percent is enough to keep the iPower’s speaker running for seven more hours.

It gets better. Although the iPower is only designed for use with the two iPhones, it could be pressed into service (we think) for the iPod Touch, which actually needs an external speaker. The sound all goes through the dock connector, so as long as you can squeeze the Touch into the case (which is expandable) you should be good to go. $44.

iHome’s twisting, topsy-turvy iH41 dock / alarm clock for the iPhone and iPod touch won’t make a lick of sense unless you habitually go to bed watching movies on your iPod. Then, it all clicks: simply twist it onto its side when you’re horizontally dozing to watch a movie as you tumble off to dreaming. The next morning, your iPhone will be fully charged and serenade you with a suitable wake-up tune: for example, Electric Six’s High Voltage. $79.99 with remote.

It should be noted that the website doesn’t actually say it is iPhone compatible, only iPod Touch, but it should safely work with the 2G… and, in the worst case scenario, even with the 3G, as long as you don’t mind doing some dremeling.

While the iPhone and iPod Touch are pretty good for watching movies by yourself, what about those times when you want to share? Having a group of people huddled around that relatively small screen can be pretty awkward, so this mini projector dock from Honlai Technology seems like a good alternative, at first glance at least.

While it’s quite a bit larger than the official iPhone/iPod Touch USB dock, when compared to other video projectors it’s downright tiny. But that compact size does cost you when it comes to image quality.

While the 640×480 image resolution is understandable, the ANSI brightness rating is a less-than-stellar 10-15 lumens, and you’re looking at a contrast ratio of just 200:1. So while it’s able to project an image that’s roughly 15 to 27 inches in size, don’t expect a similar visual experience as you get from your local digitally-equipped movie theater.

The dock also features a mini AV jack allowing you to connect other devices as well as a set of 2W speakers for stereo sound.

And even if the saving energy isn’t your concern, this might be a good solution if you have issues with iPhone 3G’s meager battery life. Just make sure to slap on some sunblock.

The energy transfer is done through some tiny contact points that come in physical contact with the pad. As soon as the points get in contact with the pad, the energy is transferred from the pad to the electronic device. Such direct contact allows for a very efficient and safe power transfer without generating harmful radiation or magnetic fields.
